…every single time…

You’re out somewhere amazing making the most of the time, the space, the adventure, and then…

..it’s time to head back. It happens every - single - time.

But the adventure isn’t over yet. There’s more to see, more to explore, more opportunities to capture unique perspectives, but before we go there’s one last stop to make.

Time was running out, we had a booking for a campsite, with a timeline to be there by. Just one quick push further north and we’d be on our way.

Heading north through a barren landscape, with a range of colour everywhere. Reds and pinks, browns and greys. I made a mental note to come back and camp along here one day - In the winter time thanks, when the cooler weather makes it bearable. There’s so much potential here, I can see a good couple of days meandering through the landscape, getting caught up in what I can see will be a myriad of patterns, shapes, colours and textures. I add to my mental note, put it on my planner for next year.

A little further up the road we drive through unusual land forms and colours, seemingly smeared across the plain. It’s a bit like driving through an alternate universe on a different planet… an alien landscape here for exploring.

We hit our turn off and we’re back on a dirt road. It’s in great condition likely having been graded right before the long weekend holiday, when the roads are filled with holiday traffic as half of Perth’s population escape the city.

Around a slight bend, up a slight rise and there it is….

The bay… Gladstone Bay, on the opposite shore of the world famous Shark Bay. I’ve mentioned this place a few times now, so you can see its a bit of a favourite.

We had a quick chat with Fran, whose family run this beautiful piece of land, as part of Yaringa Station. We pay our day fee - just a token amount, to help out with upkeep for the facilities onsite. It’s an oasis in the middle of nothing much-ness and so I’m always happy to support the existence of such amenities that make the journey that much more comfortable.

Off we head way down the side. I love this piece of coastline; it’s ancient, saline-heavy, which creates a massive difference in the soil, the mud, the rocks, the landscape… shaped entirely by the tide and weather. It’s remote, it’s otherworldly, sparse, wild… and beautiful.

We have an hour. One hour to shoot, to fly, to top up Jack’s fuel tanks from the jerry cans up on the roof, and to get back on the road and hurdle south to our accommodation.

We make every minute, every second… count.🤞🏻
