Out the back with Jack…
The stories behind the images…
The first ‘Jack’ was my beloved 2015 Jeep Wrangler Overland and, with my camera and a fleet of drones, we have explored many places together.
The spirit of Jack has now moved to my new vehicle, a 2025 Toyota LandCruiser Troopcarrier, or Troopy as they’re more commonly called,
and the adventures continue…
Back out the back…
Sketchy snake tracks in front of me on the dusty trail; they’re just little snakes, Bob said with a cheeky grin and a twinkling eye. Bob’s the caretaker out there, more about him next time ;)
‘Rubbish’, I replied, and we agreed to disagree on the size of the snakes that left those tracks… those many many tracks.
I made up a little song to sing as I walked, hoping to scare the snakes well away from my path.
A step back in time…
Subtle hints of sandalwood drifted on the air, there’s nothing musty about this space…
Piano chords float across the room, joined by a sweetly singing violin, with the warm tenor notes of a cello wrapping around the music…
The lighting dims and lifts with the music… a symphony of sound and light…
I could stay in this library all night… pick a book and curl up on a stair, and just stay in here…
The beach…
Wandering out to the water’s edge in my jandals (thongs if you’re Australian, flip flops if you’re from anywhere else except NZ) I stepped carefully, half expecting to fall on my butt at any time…
Tis the season…
Many of us were anticipating hitting the road and raced around getting vehicles serviced and tyres and wheels checked, and a few last minute tweaks to recreational vehicles, and some last minute urgent fixes.
Black Friday…cha ching!
This year I’ve replaced my several years old budget friendly Kings solar blanket with a slightly bigger but hopefully much better performing portable solar panel setup from a newer brand, Kickass, to keep that bigger fridge running, the drone, camera batteries and my laptop charged while camped on the beach and beyond…
Counting down…
It’s that time again, yep… you know the one… you can tell just by looking at people. You guessed it - almost the end of the year. Another year has almost completely slipped by and we’re caught up in the final push to the end of it.
How did that happen, we ask ourselves? Where did the year go?
Our attention is split between all that needs to be done before we break up for the year and what happens once the office door shuts till after the new year.
Magic moments…
Those magical mornings, while camping out there, when you’re blessed with the perfect conditions to catch the early morning light…
