Impressed…
Just as we find beautiful lone trees that cause us to stop and stare… and appreciate, so too are there trees of a slightly different kind, ones found stamped into the land or washed into sand by tidal flow…
Down the dirt road…
I have fond memories of this road, it’s the only road to a salt lake I’m particularly fond of, and my most recent experience on it was racing down it in the night to escape a bushfire that had swung around to head in our direction. I was following another vehicle that was camped where I had intended to camp too.
A different pace…
Stepping out of the little rustic caravan the morning air smells fresh and green, a synergy of peppermint trees and flowers, the scent of spring… the ground covered with a carpet of green grass sprinkled with tiny white daisies and clumps of freesias…
...an idyllic oasis down in the South West of Western Australia.
Ten years on…
I rolled into Perth 10 years ago today… I reached this most isolated city in the world in my much loved Jeep Compass (Tibby) towing a trailer with all my belongings, behind me. I thought I’d probably be here for a couple of years…. maybe….
Morning light…
Standing on the top of Eagle Bluff… looking out at the early morning clouds, the waters…Breathing it all in.
Watching the sun’s rays trying to peek through…
Sublime Sunday…
That crazy quick trip north recently provided the perfect opportunity to escape a very definitely wintery Perth and head for a warmer northern climate.
Drone and camera batteries were fully charged and my little drone crew loaded into Jack in anticipation of the chance to fly high and wide, spinning their little props through the air.
That Sunday morning though there was barely a breath of wind anywhere…so I took the opportunity to let Max out to stretch his props… it was a beautifully calm morning, the waves were lapping gently against the shore, and the world seemed to be enjoying a calm soothing flow....
A flying visit…
An opportunity came up recently to show another kiwi around a tiny bit of this huge and stunning state of Australia I’m currently living in. It was just a quick trip… covering an odd 1,891km…. in a very quick three days.
What if…
Jack and I have been a team for a while now, coming up eight years in November. We’ve done a lot of kilometres together and whenever I’ve driven us into a sticky or sink-y or hairy situation, Jack has driven us right back out with no hassle.
Of course Im convinced my encouragement has helped a lot…
“C’mon buddy you’ve got this, I swear I won’t do it again…”
