I was shooting coastline — water moving over reef, pushing through a natural gap in the rock — when the shape revealed itself. A water dragon, unmistakably, surging through the gap with its tail trailing behind it into the open sea. These are the moments you don't plan. You just point the drone, keep flying, and hope you're paying enough attention. Fisherman’s Lagoon Yanchep, Western Australia.
Chasing Dragons is an aerial coastal image with movement, drama and a creature hiding in the water if you know where to look. The blues and whites of the reef break give it energy, and the shape in the rock gap rewards close looking. Works beautifully in larger formats where the detail has room. A piece for someone who likes to find things in images — who looks at a wall the way I look at a landscape from above.
