From high enough above, the landscape starts telling its own stories. This one told me about a creature — dark, rounded, heavy-shouldered — with hooves planted and antlers raised. I didn't invent it. It was just there, written into the earth, waiting for someone to look at it from the right angle. Eastern Wheatbelt, Western Australia.
The Beast is an aerial landscape image that plays with the line between what's real and what the mind makes of it. The shape is entirely natural — formed by run-off on the edge of a salt-lake— and yet… I’m fascinated by a landscape that does this without any help. A strong, characterful piece that suits a home office, study or feature wall.
